O My Grief! (I've Lost Her Surely)

'Acting is like writing on water' - Eva Le Gallienne

Emma is currently developing a new piece of theatre based on the lives and performances of dead theatre actresses. Using the biographies and letters of famous theatre actresses like Olga Knipper, Molly Allgood and Eleonora Duse, together with studying Irish theatre archives and conducting interviews with actresses who have played Pegeen Mike she is exploring the ephemeral nature of (in this case female) theatre performance in contrast to the (often male) dramatist's pen and ink.

I'm collecting experiences from actresses who have played Pegeen Mike in "The Playboy of the Western World", through both one-on-one interviews and written surveys. I've spoken with some Pegeens already, and would like to hear from more. For people who would consider themselves 'amateur' or 'professional' - all Pegeens are welcome.
